UK Investor Visa
Also known as the Tier 1 (Investor) Visa, the UK Investor Visa is for people who want to make a significant investment in the UK economy. You must have £1,000,000 available and be prepared to invest in Britain.
There are a number of advantages to the UK Investor Visa. The Investor Visa is different to the Entrepreneur Visa because you don’t need to be able to speak English or set up any kind of business and you do not need to have an offer of employment.
Duration of a UK Investor Visa
You can stay in the UK for up to 3 years with the Investor Visa. The UK Investor Visa can then be extended for a further two years. It is possible, after time, to apply for ILR to become a resident in Britain.
UK Investor Visa Eligibility
Under the Tier 1 Visa category the applicant does not need a Certificate of Sponsorship from a sponsor. Because the applicant is unlikely to need work whilst in Britain, it is not necessary that they speak English. With the Investor Visa the assumption is that you can afford to fund your own lifestyle.
75 points are required before an Investor Visa can be granted. Points are determined on;
- The candidate has at least £1 million to invest in Britain. The money must be the applicants own.
- The candidate has personal assets to the value of more than £2 million.
- The candidate must have invested a minimum of £750,000 in the UK by way of either UK Government bonds or share or investment capital in UK companies. This investment must have been made within three months of gaining the UK Investor Visa.
Dependents
Tier 1 Visa applications are assessed on a range of criteria. For each sub category, candidates will be assessed against different requirements. All categories of the Tier 1 general visa require the applicant to be fluent in speaking English and must be able to support themselves with no recourse to public funds.
Dependants
With an Investor Visa permanent residency in Britain is possible. Spouse and dependent immigration are provided for under this Visa. Your spouse or unmarried partner and any dependent children may join you in the country with the same benefits as UK Citizens.
