UK Unmarried Partners Visa Guideline
The Unmarried Partner Visa (also known as the De Facto Visa) makes it possible for the unmarried partner of a UK citizen to gain entry to Britain on the basis that they are in a relationship with a person who is present and settled in Britain. Settled status in the UK means that you are normally resident in the UK with no immigration restriction on the length of your stay.
The Unmarried Partner Visa applies to both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. You will need to be able to prove that your relationship is permanent and has been in existence for two or more years.
Duration of a UK Unmarried Partner Visa
This visa is issued for an initial two year period. Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or permanent residency in Britain may be granted after this time.
Benefits of a UK Unmarried Partner Visa
A De Facto Visa does not require you to be married to your partner. A successful Unmarried Partner application will allow your partner to enter and work in the UK without a work permit.
