Tier 5 Visa – Youth Mobility Scheme Guideline
Tier 5 of the Points Based System is designed for individuals who wish to immigrate to the United Kingdom on a temporary basis and looking to participate in a Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS), or looking for specific, temporary employment opportunities.
The Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) falls under Tier 5 of the PBS. It is a cultural exchange scheme designed to create youth mobility opportunities for young people.
Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) falls under the Tier 5 visa category. Applicants may also meet the criteria for a Tier 5 visa in one of the following categories:

Tier 5 Visa – Youth mobility Scheme (YMS) Eligibility
Tier 5 is available to applicants from participating countries aged 18-30 and will grant leave to enter the UK for a maximum period of 24 months. Applications for UK visas for immigration must be accompanied by a certificate of sponsorship.
Tier 5 Visa – Youth mobility Scheme (YMS) application requires applicants to hold a valid passport for a participating country and a certificate of sponsorship.
Under any of the Tier 5 visa sub categories the applicant must be able to support their self for their entire stay in the UK without recourse to public funds.
For the applicant to succeed they must score 50 points from various categories:
- Sponsorship: valid passport for a country with deemed sponsorship = 30 points
- Maintenance: show that you have sufficient funds to the sum of £1600 = 10 points
- Age: you are between the ages of 18 and 30 = 10 points
