Life in the UK Test Introduction
Becoming settled in the UK is a significant step in your journey to becoming a British Citizen. By passing the Life in the UK test you will show that you have the knowledge of UK life and the English language that it is required for citizenship.
British people believe that community is important and they have respect for equal rights. There are many different cultures in Britain and cultures are brought together by listening to different points of view.
Gaining indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in the UK by becoming settled means you will have the opportunity to play an active role in the community you live in and wider society. You will not have to renew your stay in the UK. Although you could not leave the UK for periods longer than 2 years, you will be able to come and go from the UK without bother.

If you become a British citizen or get ILR you will be able to keep your own identity but will need to know about life in the UK.
