Immigration Cap: What People Are Saying
The government introduced a temporary UK visa cap on non-EU immigration earlier this month and is currently consulting with the public and business leaders on the permanent cap that is due to be introduced in April next year.
Problems have already been caused for businesses in the UK by the temporary immigration cap. Businesses have had to significantly reduce the number of people they can employ under the Tier 2 visa scheme, some businesses even threatening to leave the UK.
Your thoughts
“Migrants bring many benefits to the UK. Reducing migration to the UK will likely effect businesses that rely on the skills of migrants to function. The government are hypocritical. They want Turkey and India to do business with Britain but don’t want their citizens, I think it’s disgraceful.” Anon, London
“Migration is excellent for British economy and business. Migrants pay too much tax and don’t claim it back through public services. They have been victims of racism, discrimination and bullying. Migrants who are unskilled are not welcomed by the Government because they are not economically beneficial. Without foreign workers, British economy will bleed to death. British society must be grateful to the foreign workers.” Lou, Leeds
“Why doesn’t the government train the jobless people in Britain to save business from having to hire from foreign countries. I have been unemployed for 3 months. I worked for an engineering company who made 8 English workers redundant because of lack of skills and hired 4 workers from other countries. It would have been much better for the workers if they trained us up to the level they require rather than making us redundant” Brian, Birmingham
“Migrants drain our public services. Businesses only reject to the immigration cap because of cheap labour. The UK is broke and the immigration cap will be beneficial because it will reduce the strain on public services such as hospitals and schools. If businesses need more skilled people then they should hire one of the thousands of people who are unemployed in Britain and train them to do the job” Anon, Bristol
ha, your post bring me some good ideas, it’s really awesome, thanks.
